GET TO KNOW AJ GRIFFIN, Ed.D.

A servant leader, policy innovator, and executive, Dr. AJ Griffin is the Chief Executive Officer of the Potts Family Foundation, where she champions initiatives aimed at strengthening Oklahoma families and communities. With a career spanning business, education, politics, and nonprofit leadership, Dr. Griffin brings a multifaceted perspective to addressing some of the country’s most pressing challenges.

A self-proclaimed “learn it all,” AJ deeply loves learning and values education. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma State University, a master’s from
the University of Central Oklahoma, and a Doctorate in Education from Baylor University, focusing on Learning and Organizational Change.

Dr. Griffin served two terms in the Oklahoma State Senate, where she authored and passed landmark legislation to enhance the lives of children and families. These efforts included autism treatment insurance coverage, foster care and juvenile justice system transformations, criminal justice reform, and expanded healthcare access. Her legislative work earned her numerous accolades, including the Kate Barnard Child Advocate of the Year award.

At the Potts Family Foundation, Dr. Griffin leads efforts to empower communities to maximize their resources to improve the quality of life for families. She teaches nonprofit and government leaders the tools for systemic change and the power of collaborative leadership. She also leads policy advocacy efforts for improved systems, effective institutions, and a responsible business community.

Dr. Griffin’s commitment to service extends beyond her professional roles. She serves on several boards, including the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy, the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits. On the national stage, she is active with Human Rights for Kids, a group focused on juvenile justice reform, the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Child Welfare Task Force, and the Prenatal-to-Three Policy Impact Center. Additionally, Griffin is a proud OKC Rotary Club #29 member and a Leadership Oklahoma Class 34 graduate. She was recently appointed as a trustee to the Oklahoma County Detention Center, where she works to improve conditions for those jailed in Oklahoma County. Dr. Griffin was named one of the 50 Most Influential non-elected Oklahomans by The Journal Record.
Dr. Griffin and her husband, Trey, love travel and the Oklahoma State University Cowboys. They share those loves with their daughters, Alexandra and Reagan.
