Positivity, When You Need it Most

In life, you can either be an energy-giver or an energy-drainer. Being a positive person can be challenging when bad things are happening. It is important to remember, though, that a positive attitude goes a long way toward encouraging others. When you encourage someone else, you help fill their “emotional fuel tank,” so they have more energy to work through their challenges. Strive to be the type of person who looks on the bright side and tries to make the most of every situation.

Strata Leadership’s Character Core program defines positivity as “maintaining a good attitude, even when faced with difficulty.” We are all faced with difficulties right now, like unemployment, sickness, and uncertainty.

Current times show there is no guarantee for smooth sailing in life and that we will all be faced with struggles, challenges, and obstacles – some caused by our decisions, and others completely and utterly out of our control. But just as there are times of struggle, there will also be times of calm again. No trial lasts forever.

We may not have direct control over what challenges we are facing right now, but we have the opportunity to manage how we are responding to them. It is an active choice to persevere and have a positive attitude or let our problems and challenges overwhelm us and beat us down. Choosing to look at the good that is happening will help you to feel better, even when you might not be at your best.

Yes, we are all trying to figure out our new normal and wrap our minds around how long this will last. For now, be positive and look for the good happening all around you.
