Strata Certified Coach


Stephen Colwell is a Strata Certified Coach and Owner of Cool Spring Creative. Stephen’s executive coaching is rooted in his love for people and his passion for supporting leaders.

Stephen describes himself as a searcher. His joy for exploration and variety have led him into many different professions and residencies, but also into any opportunity in which he can connect with others, build relationships, and develop meaningful community. A common thread throughout Stephen’s life is his love for telling stories. As the Owner of Cool Spring Creative, Stephen helps organizations tell their stories, and he brings this approach into his work as an Executive Coach to help leaders tell meaningful stories through how they lead themselves, their teams, and their organizations. .

Stephen graduated from York College with a BA in Speech Communications While at York he played for the men’s soccer team, was the campus worship leader, was president of the concert choir, and always found a way to bring groups of people together for life-giving events and activities.  After leaving York he carried his education in communications into the journalism field where he was the sports editor for three different newspapers before landing in private education as the Director of Marketing and Student Life, as well as the women’s soccer coach, at Brentwood Christian School in Austin, Texas.

After two more Marketing Director positions in the public world Stephen joined the entrepreneurial ranks, launching Cool Spring Creative, as well as a leather goods company. He continues to run both companies from his northeast Kansas hobby farm where he lives with his wife Joy, and three children June, Jonny, and Cameron.
